Food....fooood.....and more foooood

Am feeling really stuffed now....just came back from dinner at Big John's in Sans Souci with John, Sam, De, Lawrence, Alex, Jo and Dor.....as usual, coz the portions are so big over there, i got home feeling like i've over-eaten although all i had was a bit of salad, some pasta and 2 slices of pizza....i'd like to say that my appetite's shrunk but unfortunately i think that's not the case...although i probably can't eat 2 pieces of steak for afternoon tea anymore, so maybe that's a good sign too. Hehe....

Oh well....looking forward to mooncakes (!) tomorrow....mom and aunts are having a little 'making mooncake party'...i've always loved the period leading up to and just after my birthday simply because it 's around the time of the mid-autumn festival....a time for lanterns and mooncakes... i remember having those battery-operated lanterns which always just managed to last till the end of the lantern festival and mysteriously they would cease to work once the festival was over...lousy manufacturers.... then when we got a bit older, we graduated to using paper lanterns with real candles for light....hehe....i remember my cousins actually making their own lanterns one year.... i was really impressed, except i think it ended up getting either scorched or burnt....

just thinking of the mooncakes now....yum.....unfortunately, none of the mooncakes will have egg yolks in them coz my mom thinks they're too unhealthy and too expensive, so it's good news for doreen who as you will all know, detests eggs.....hehe....

on other matters, got stuck waiting on the train platform at town hall for almost half an hour today (ok, i exaggerate, maybe it was only 15 minutes)...why? coz apparently some guy was in the tunnel between martin's place and town hall, and none of the trains could move till he was cleared out of the tunnel (surprise surprise...duh...)....it was the first time i heard of something like that, but according to this really nice RailCorp lady, she said that it's quite common - passengers walking through the train tunnels...apparently some guy actually walked from bondi junction to town hall the other day...so there you go! something new learnt today!

anyway it's really annoying how the trains on my line are usually delayed especially on the way home...am really considering staying in the city next time, coz most of the trains to the city are usually quite punctual or considering the fact that during peak hour the trains between north sydney and the city come like every 3 minutes, i'd never have to wait for ages for the next train....not like the illawarra line (where i stay)....trains come like every 15 or 20 minutes....sometimes half an hour, and if the train's late, it justs gets so packed that you might not even get onto the train and you'll have people pushing and shoving at you from behind just so that they can try to get on the train. What is it with people and trains...no one seems to have the common sense that if u push and try to get on the trains, the people who are trying to alight from the train can't get off and since there's a finite volume to the train, if the people who want to get off can't get off, how do u expect to get on an already packed train? silly people....

anyway back to my choice of where i'd stay, north sydney would be best coz i could just stroll to work every morning, wake up late etc and that'd be fine. The only thing abt north sydney is having to pay the toll everytime you wanna cross the harbour bridge into the city....city's good coz it's so convenient....it's just that it's expensive, crowded, probably full of asians and basically, just crowded....eastern suburbs like kingsford....i duno, full of asians, not as crowded as the city but i'd probably still hate taking the public transport home....a ride from kingsford to the city in the morning is usually 15 or 20 minutes but the ride home to kingsford in the evenings can sometimes take 45 minutes....even if i'm not feeling tired when i get on the bus, by the time i get off the bus, i'm usually cranky and tired......so no kingsford.....hurstville is good coz it's a major suburb, but still the same thing....unreliable public transport...oh yeah, also add to the fact that there's heaps of asians here too.......sighz....sydney suddenly just seems like such an unappealing place to stay......(i know there's heaps of other places in sydney where one could stay but i'm not going to go on abt each and every suburb's pros and cons at the moment, so i'm just gonna stop and post some pictures)

Well, dad was asking about my ski photos and stuff today and i realised that i hadn't shown him and probably almost everyone else photos from the queensland trip, and coz i dun have an online photo album, here's a few select ones....
