i know....what else to write right? hehe....anyway it was a different kind of valentine's day....dad and mom have this cleaning contract to clean 9 recently renovated units before the end of the week....they got merrill and lenny to help them on monday but by monday it was apparent that they would probably have problems trying to finish cleaning all these units...not that it's impossible, my dad actually budgeted 3 working days to do it but coz these pple who hired them are really picky (especially for the price that they're paying my parents, i think it's ridiculous, not worth the money man) so it takes almost half a day for 4 or so pple just to clean a 2 bedroom unit instead of the 1-2 hrs that it would normally take.....anyway since i get tues and thurs off to "study" for my corporations law course, i spent yesterday helping the 4 of them clean.....really tiring work....we had to wipe down cupboards and shelves, scrape paint off the switches etc (the painter's terrible, he did such a sloppy job, didnt even bother using masking tape to "protect" the edges like the switches and cornices etc and we're expected to scrape off all the paint loh as we clean....takes up so much time....it's annoying), then coz it's like a renovation of an old unit, there's new stuff and old stuff and the old stuff like the windows and sliding balcony doors were so filthy there was actually a build up of dirt in the threading (the groove where u slide the windows and doors etc) and they expected us to clean up the threading until it was clean....no dirt....and they even expected us to get into the corners of these threading and clean them out, which is no mean feat....it involved having to use a screwdriver, a scrounge pad and some pretty strong chemical to clean them out.....all in all....tiring hard work....hands were shrivelled up really badly at the end of the day too coz for the second half of the day, i decided not to wear gloves which was a big mistake coz i was using chemicals to clean.....anyway it made me really appreciate the pains my parents go through to put on the table for us, to feed us, clothe us, make sure we got food on the table and a roof over our heads.....thank you God for my parents! thank you that they love us and make sacrifices for us because of their love....help me lord to honour them as you have commanded us to. amen.
anyway that was how merrill and i spent valentines' day...cleaning....hehe.....not really lah....we did manage to have some dinner together...which was chicken stew which i had cooked the entire day in a slow cooker for my family and merrill.....then after that merrill brought me out for dessert....we were planning on going to pancakes on the rocks for dessert but the queue to get in was pretty long (it stretched out along the stairs and almost to the road) so we went for a walk along the quay instead...ended up near the bend in hickson road just under the harbour bridge....so we were sitting and talkin and we decided to go somewhere and find a drink (coz i was thirsty from all the work i put in....hehe) and as we stood up to leave, he suddenly got down on his knees and popped the question....so there you go....we're officially engaged! hehe....
anyway should head off to bed, have to go help my parents clean again tomorrow....man....2 days in this week helping them....maybe it'll take the place of my gym...which i havent really been going to for a while now....ever since my summer course started...but that's another story for another day

OMG!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
But how come there aren't more details about the proposal? (ie what did he say, what did you say, what gimicks were used etc...)
Seems like the whole proposal issue (which should have been a main point of the entry) only got stuck on at the end like a footnote...
thnakew! haha...gimmicks? hmm....are u trying to fish for tips? hehe....anyway to save my future husband from any potential embarassment....he didn't really use any gimmicks or anything....he was just really nervous and all he said was just "will you marry me?" without a whole spiel on why i should marry him, or that kinda professing his undying love for me thing that u see in the movies...it was just really sweet and simple...guess that's why i couldn't really say much more abt it than i did....anyway i took so long to answer coz i was teasing him that he just put the ring on my finger anyway....actually, come to think abt it....maybe i haven't really answered his proposal properly....hehe....but then i guess he knows the answer is already a yes =)
