happy (belated) birthday nicky! if you're ever reading this, here's my birthday greetings for you this year!

anyway it's almost 3 weeks till i go off on holidays! no work till next year, bumming around at Port Stephens and Gold Coast/Brisbane....looking forward to it. in the meantime, there's all the things to settle for our new car. Yuk Yee, Karen, Nico, Graeme & Toby are returning to Singapore for good and they gave away their car for free and since we don't actually have a car, we accepted their offer (since no one else put up their hand for it) and now we have a car! no more having to juggle everyone (melvyn, their uncle and our times & demands) with the use of melvyn's 2 cars which he has so kindly lent to us for the past year or so. so anyway, we got the car from yuk yee today, now all we have to do is get the pink slip done for the car, get some repairs done (which we'll probably need to do for the pink slip to be given), get the green slip for the car etc by Monday which is when the green slip/rego expires.

in other news, my eyes are killing me....i've always been pretty careless with my glasses, i mean in all the years that i've been wearing specs (and that's since the age of 3!) i've only ever broken my glasses once and that was when i was 5 and running along a slopey road, tripped, fell, skinned my knees really badly and broke my glasses. anyway with my last current pair of glasses, i've dropped them countless of times and being glass lenses, i've always had a thought at the back of my mind that one day, the lens might actually break when i drop them, it just so happened, one morning while i was in the shower, i dropped my glasses as i was thinking that, and my right lens actually cracked! so it was straight off to the optometrist to get a new pair of glasses since my current ones were abt 2 years old. got them made when i last went back to singapore so that's like ages ago. anyway that was abt a month ago. i paid in full for my glasses (which isn't cheap), and i still havent got my glassses. Apparently, coz of my extremely bad eyesight, they have to get my lenses from Japan and then they have had heaps of problems grinding or fitting my lenses into the frames so they've had to keep sending the lenses back to Japan to get new ones etc. this has happened more than once so when the OPSM guy called me today to inform me that they've had to send my lenses back to Japan again, i got really upset but on his part, he wasn't very nice n kept cutting me off (prob coz he knew i was upset abt the delay). normally, i wouldnt be that fussed abt my glasses taking so long to come (in singapore, they generally only take a week but this current timing with OPSM is ridiculous) but coz i broke my lens, it means i can't use my glasses and have had to rely on my contacts every day for the past month and more. this has left my eyes red, swollen and dry. David, my boss, has been really understanding though, there's been some days where i've kinda taken off coz my eyes have hurt too much, or he's trying to get me to do stuff that doesnt require me to look at the computer screen for too long. but anyway, OPSM Randwick is bad! used to think they were good but this episode with them has left me with much doubts. any recommendations for good optometrists in sydney?
