Am breathing in insecticide fumes at the moment. Was sitting down at my table plugging in my (new) laptop etc when I looked up and saw a Huntsman spider on the wall just above my table. So my kind hubby takes out the insecticide and decides to spray insecticide on it till it dies and now we're both breathing in the fumes which I don't think is that great. funnily enough, there's a nice kinda sweet smell to the insecticide.
Yesterday....
Had a nice candlelight dinner last night and it wasn't because there were plans for a romantic dinner but because there was a blackout in Kingsford, only from the stretch between Barker St to Middle St. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we were at Ayam Goreng Jakarta (what used to be Nasi Uduk Jakarta) and had only just sat down to order our meals when the power went out. We (my bible study group and Rob's bible study group) decided to stay put as the waiter assured us that the food was still being cooked (in the dark...haha....no lah they probably had candles) and we thought that it being a busy Sunday night, we'd probably have to wait twice as long to get a table someplace else and have our food served. Thank goodness, Tom (who's Indo) was joining us for dinner coz I think he probably communicated much better with the staff than we did. We were joking about how it was a lot like Indo - power outages etc. Anyway candlelight dinner was nice. All in all, the power went out for about an hour and a half. It only came back on when we had all finished our meal. Think I'm too used to the city life; it's strange seeing the whole street (including BP) dark.
After dinner, it was time for a little whudunit mystery. Soomi was convinced that someone had broken into her place when she was out although nothing was stolen. Well, she didnt really have anything valuable in her unit as her laptop was somewhere else at that time. But when she came home, the door wasn't locked properly, and the container of cat food had been opened, which couldn't have been done by Sylvest(er) (the cat). So Doreen, Andy, Jack, Merrill and I decided to walk over to her place (which is only like a few hundred metres from our place) to check up on her and make sure she was ok. Turns out everyone else in the world was there too like Gloria, Lou Lynn, Weibin, Min Jae, Seung Min and Qing. The next half an hour or so was spent going over trying to work out whether someone could have come in, who it could have been (Soomi suspects its the locksmith that came to help her open her door last Tues when she was locked out as that was about the time mysterious things started happening like things not being in their original position as she left it when she came home, her mail going missing etc) and how to set up a trap "Home Alone" style to determine if someone would have entered her place while she was out. Anyway we were making heap of noise (as usual) and the guys weren't being too helpful by saying stuff that probably made Soomi more freaked out. Not that I wouldn't. Imagine living alone and then having the thought that someone might come into your place while you were home or weren't home. That's scary. Not to mention that she'd recently almost been mugged by a guy wielding a knife. Long story short, we got Soomi to come stay over since we had an extra room and she lived so close by. She brought Sylvest as well so she wouldnt have to walk home early in the morning to let him out. But the poor cat didn't feel comfortable in our home. At first he'd just sit near the front door and keep looking at the door. After awhile, he got more comfortable and started exploring our house abit and he found his favourite spot which was under our bed (crappy phone camera couldnt take good pics but he was really so cute under there). But when Soomi and I were in the spare room surfing on the net for rental apartments, he wandered in after awhile and fell asleep on the bed. Anyway apparently, he still wasnt used to our place after that that he cried the whole night. So Soomi had to go home this morning and she's still there now. Hopefully nothing happens to her. I'm so thankful we haven't had any problems with our place so far although there's no security etc. and now Merrill's going to be away for a couple of days in June. The last time he was away it was abit scary coz the house is pretty big and empty with only one person in it.
